Dear Host Family,
Hello! My name is [Crystel Ann], I am 19 years old, turning 20 in February, from Caloocan City, Philippines. I hope you are doing well and thank you for reading my letter.
I am writing because I would love to become a part of your family as your next au pair. I am a caring, patient, honest, and responsible young woman with a big love for toddlers.
For the past two years, I have been caring daily for my two nephews who are now 2 and 3 years old. Since my sister/brother is working, I am the one who takes care of them from morning until evening. This is not just occasional babysitting, this is my daily life and my greatest joy.
My daily routine with them:
- Morning: Wake them up, prepare breakfast, bathing and changing clothes
- Daytime: Playing educational games, reading storybooks, teaching ABCs, colors, numbers and songs, playing outside and taking afternoon walks
- Mealtime: Cooking simple healthy food for them, feeding them, cleaning up after
- Nap & Bedtime: Putting them to sleep, singing lullabies, making sure they feel safe and loved
Because of this experience, I learned how to be very patient, especially during tantrums or when they cry. I never shout. I stay calm, I listen, and I comfort them. I also learned to be organized, clean, and responsible for their safety at all times.
About me: I am family-oriented, respectful, and cheerful. In the Philippines, family is very important and I will bring that same love to your family. I am a non-smoker, I don't drink, I am clean and I always clean up after myself and the kids. I can cook Filipino food and simple Western foods like pasta, pancakes, and sandwiches, and I am very willing to learn your family's recipes. I can also help with light housework like children's laundry, tidying their rooms, and keeping the kitchen clean.
I want to be an au pair in the Netherlands because I admire your culture, your balance of work and family, and your happy environment for children. I want to learn Dutch, experience life in cities like Amsterdam, The Hague or Utrecht, and grow as a person while helping your family. I also love biking and I would love to bike with your kids!
I dream of being not just a babysitter, but an Ate (big sister) to your children - someone they can trust, play with, and love.
