Dear Future Host Family,

Hello! My name is Decem, and I am from Myanmar. I am currently studying for a BA in English at Myitkyina University, where I have completed my third year. Alongside my university studies, I have attended several other programs, including a Professional Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from Strategy First College, a Diploma in Politics from Naushawng College, and a Teaching Program at St. Aloysius Gonzaga.

I currently work part-time as a teacher, mainly teaching basic English and Chinese to young learners. I really enjoy working with children because every child is different. Some are quiet, some are very energetic, and some can surprise you with the funniest things! Through teaching, I have learned to be patient, attentive, flexible, and responsible. I also enjoy making lessons simple and fun through activities, games, stories, and conversations.

I am also involved in my church community, where I participate in church activities and have experience teaching young learners. Being involved in church has given me opportunities to work with different people and has taught me the importance of helping, cooperating, and caring for others.

I decided to become an Au Pair because I would like to experience everyday life in another country and become part of a new family. Germany is especially interesting to me because I have decided to learn German seriously. In my city, there are many opportunities to study English and Chinese, but there are very few quality German classes. That made me want to explore the language more deeply—not only the language itself, but also the culture and everything connected to it. I hope that living with a German family will allow me to experience the language naturally in everyday life.

Outside of studying and teaching, I am quite a simple person. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I often go for an evening walk with my mom, and during holidays my niece sometimes comes over. We like trying trendy snacks from TikTok and cooking our favourite meals together. I also enjoy watching movies and listening to music. When I was younger, I played the piano, but I stopped for a long time. Recently, I have been trying to start practising again, so maybe I am slowly becoming friends with the piano again!

I would really like to find a host family where we can communicate openly, respect each other, and feel comfortable being ourselves. I understand that living together means learning each other's routines and habits, and I am ready to adapt and do my part. I would be happy to help with the children, spend time with them, and become someone your family can rely on.

One of my bigger dreams is to use education to contribute to my own country in the future. I want to continue learning, gain new experiences, and eventually share what I have learned with people in my community. I believe that every experience can teach us something, and I hope my time as an Au Pair will be one of those meaningful experiences.

I would love the chance to get to know your family, hear about your everyday life, and hopefully share some of mine with you too. I hope that one day we can look back and say that choosing each other as a host family and Au Pair was a really good decision.
