Introduction

Dear Future Host Family,

Some people discover their love for working with children as they grow older. For me, it all started when I was just 12 years old. What began as babysitting gradually became something much more meaningful, teaching me that caring for children is not just about keeping them safe but also about helping them feel loved, understood, and encouraged.

Over the years, I have worked as a freelance babysitter for both local and foreign families. Each family and child taught me something new about patience, responsibility, and understanding different personalities. I learned how to keep up with children's energy, encourage their curiosity, play with them, introduce them to new things, prepare their meals, follow their routines, and comfort them when they were upset.

I also became comfortable with the everyday responsibilities of childcare, including changing diapers, assisting with toilet needs, bathing children, brushing their teeth, changing their clothes, preparing meals, and cleaning up after them. These experiences taught me that childcare involves both fun activities and the little daily tasks that keep children safe, clean, and comfortable. Most importantly, they helped me realize how much I genuinely enjoy being part of children's growth and development.

One of the most meaningful milestones in my journey was becoming an au pair in the Netherlands. I spent one year living with a single-parent family and caring for three young children aged 1, 3, and 5. Looking after children at different stages of development taught me to understand their individual needs and personalities while balancing their routines with patience and care.

During that year, I learned that being an au pair means much more than simply looking after children. It means recognizing when they need comfort, encouragement, gentle guidance, or someone to sit beside them and make them feel safe. It means appreciating the little milestones, such as learning a new word, trying something for the first time, or proudly showing you something they can do. These moments may seem small, but they are among the most rewarding parts of caring for children.

Living with this family also helped me become more independent, organized, responsible, and proactive. Alongside childcare, I helped with child-related household tasks such as preparing meals, doing laundry, organizing the children's belongings, and keeping their spaces tidy. I learned the importance of contributing to family life, taking initiative, and helping without always needing to be asked.

Living in another country also allowed me to experience a different culture, adapt to new routines, and appreciate that every family has its own values and traditions. I enjoyed discovering the Dutch way of life, visiting new places, and learning about local customs. This experience strengthened my interest in cultural exchange and inspired me to become an au pair again.

After completing my year in the Netherlands, I continued working as a freelance babysitter for different families. This allowed me to gain more experience, learn from different parenting styles, and become more confident in adapting to each child's needs and family routines.

Now, I am excited about the possibility of beginning a new chapter with another host family. For me, becoming an au pair again is not simply about traveling to another country. It is about building meaningful relationships, learning from a new family, experiencing a different culture, and continuing to grow personally and professionally.

I would love to discover your traditions, try local food, explore beautiful places, meet new people, and experience everyday life in your country. I would also be happy to share my own culture, food, traditions, and stories with your family. I believe cultural exchange is special because both sides can learn from each other, appreciate different perspectives, and create lasting memories.

When it comes to childcare, I do not want to be an au pair who simply follows a schedule. I want to be someone your children genuinely look forward to seeing. I want to turn ordinary afternoons into fun adventures, make them laugh after a difficult day, patiently help them learn something new, and gently remind them when it is time to put their toys away.

At the same time, I understand that becoming part of a family comes with responsibility and respect. I believe a strong relationship between an au pair and a host family is built on trust, honesty, open communication, and mutual understanding. I respect that parents know their children best, and I am willing to learn and follow your family's routines, rules, and approach to raising your children.

Having lived with a single-parent family, I understand how valuable an extra pair of hands can be in making everyday life easier. I would be happy to contribute to a supportive home environment where everyone feels respected and cared for. I hope to be someone you can rely on, bot
